Boston University’s Elie Wiesel Center for Jewish Studies will be hosting a Cambodian American author and screenwriter Loung Ung on Monday, November 18th, 2019 as part of its memorial lecture series.
Ung’s bestselling memoir, First They Killed My Father: A Daughter of Cambodia Remembers was a 2001 recipient of the Asian/Pacific American Librarians’ Association award for Excellence in Adult Nonfiction Literature and is widely taught in schools internationally. In 2017, Ung’s memoir turned into a screenplay for a critically acclaimed Netflix movie First They Killed My Father, directed by Angelina Jolie.
