BREAKING: Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra formally removed from office by Thai Constitutional Court.
Thai media is reporting that on Friday, August 29, Ms. Paetongtarn Shinawatra, the youngest daughter of Thaksin Shinawatra, was officially removed from the position of Prime Minister by Thailand’s Constitutional Court.
In addition, the Nation Thailand reports that the whole Cabinet will also be ousted from office according to the Constitution.
The House will convene to elect Thailand’s new leader.
Ms. Paetongtarn has been suspended by the Constitutional Court for nearly two months after 36 Thai senators jointly filed a lawsuit accusing her of being dishonest as the country’s leader and violating the constitutional code of conduct during a telephone conversation with Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of Cambodia, regarding the border dispute between the two countries, the audio of which was later leaked to the public.
This official removal of her position came after she had just taken office as Prime Minister of Thailand in August 2024.
Ms. Paetongtarn also has another role in the Thai government, which is Minister of Culture.
