Cambodian Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn presented a detailed map highlighting Thai military encroachments in Thma Da commune, Veal Veng district, Pursat province, on Friday (Mar. 27).

The briefing was attended by ambassadors, heads of diplomatic missions, embassy representatives, and international organisations accredited to Cambodia.

According to Cambodian Foreign Ministry’s press release dated 8 February 2026, additional containers were placed by Thai armed forces in Thmor Da commune, Veal Veng district, Pursat province, on 7 February 2026. These locations are situated well within Cambodian territory as delimited pursuant to the Franco-Siamese Convention of 1904 and the Treaty of 1907.

The construction of physical barriers and roads on Cambodian territory, occupied by Thai forces during their offensive from 7 to 27 December 2025, directly contravenes the de-escalation measures agreed upon under Item I of the Joint Statement of the 3rd Special Meeting of the General Border Committee (GBC) held on 27 December 2025. These actions further impede the safe and dignified return of displaced Cambodians to their homes and properties, and amount to a deliberate attempt to reshape the security environment and establish new realities on the ground in areas under Thailand’s illegal occupation, in breach of the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter and the ASEAN Charter.

The Royal Government of Cambodia calls upon Thailand to immediately cease all the above-mention actions and to fully respect the Joint Statement of the 3rd Special GBC Meeting of 27 December 2025, as well as all other relevant bilateral agreements. Cambodia remains committed to resolving all boundary issues peacefully in accordance with international law and existing bilateral agreements, while firmly upholding the principle that borders must not be altered by force or by unilateral facts created on the ground.
