Summer Journalism Workshop for New England High School Students

The New England High School Journalism Collaborative is seeking for high school students who interested journalism to apply for the 2020 workshop which will begin on June 25 – July, 2022. The program will be hosted at Regis College in Weston, MA, and students will have hands on experience working at a newsroom at Simmons University in Boston. All expenses are paid for students interested in journalism. A program that established by Carole C. Remick more than 35 years ago.

Students will learn to report, write, and edit for a newspaper, and produce multimedia projects for a website. They will be assigned stories, do interviews, and will be exposed to working on a deadline to create their own newspaper.

The New England Newspaper and Press Association will be assisting with the application process. Application guidelines are including high school students from the New England states (CT, MA, ME, NH, RI, VT) and are recommended by a teacher are eligible. Students from the disadvantage background are encourage to apply. The deadline is April 1, 2022. The requirement is below and also can also be found at, http://nehsjc.org/summer-program-application/.

Applicants are required a letter of recommendation from the sponsoring teacher, a transcription, an easy of 500 words, and a headshot. The applicants must select either on why you should be selected to participate in this program OR how writing has helped you explore and understand a problem in your life.
