TEWKSBURY — Chief Ryan Columbus reports that the Tewksbury Police Department arrested and charged a Lowell Man with drug distribution Wednesday evening. Benjamin Khammanivong, age 27, of Lowell, was arrested and charged with Distribution of a Class B Drug (subsequent offense) on Wednesday, April 9. At about 4:45 p.m., officers in the Tewksbury Police Department Narcotics Unit were patrolling in the area of 1785 Andover St. when they observed what appeared to be a drug transaction between a gray Toyota Tundra and another vehicle.
Through an initial investigation, it was determined that the operator of the Tundra, identified as Kammanivong, sold approximately 3.8 grams of a white powdery substance that was later determined to be cocaine. During a subsequent investigation, police conducted a motor vehicle stop of the Tundra and arrested Kammanivong without incident. He was arraigned in Lowell District Court on Thursday, April 10.
