CANDIDATE: Christopher Anderson
Christopher Anderson, National Security Adviser to Senator Steve Daines, is an experienced congressional and national security professional who has over 17 years of experience working on foreign affairs, defense, and international policy matters in both the executive and legislative branches of the U.S. government. In his current role, he advises on all aspects of national security, including foreign policy, defense, veterans affairs, intelligence, international illicit finance and sanctions regimes, amongst other regulatory frameworks.
Mr. Anderson served as a U.S. Army Combat Engineer and deployed to Helmand Province, Afghanistan in 2011. He remained on active duty for three years until 2012. Subsequently, he transitioned to a career of advising Senators, Cabinet Secretaries, and political campaigns on national security issues. Over the next 14 years, he would advise three Senators and the Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs. His work in Washington, D.C. began as a Legislative Correspondent for Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin. Following work on political campaigns, he joined Senator Bill Cassidy, of Louisiana, as a Military Legislative Assistant, advising on defense, foreign relations, and veterans affairs. Mr. Anderson also served as a Special Assistant for the Office of Congressional and Legislative Affairs in the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, which serves as central point for all matters involving the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate. Mr. Anderson’s track record of serving the United States and its citizens, continued commitment to national security matters, and his demonstrated professional expertise in foreign policy, defense, and international affairs, makes him well-qualified to serve as U.S. Ambassador to Cambodia.
Mr. Anderson is a native of Wisconsin. He earned a B.A. in Economics from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, and an M.P.M. from Pennsylvania State University
