New Lowell Recycling Program coming in 2014

Beginning on Monday December 2nd and all throughout the month of December, new recycling bins are being distributed throughout the City of Lowell. Lowell is switching to Single-Stream Recycling in 2014. Each participating household will receive a green bin where all recyclables (paper, plastic, or metal) can be deposited together for pickup. Previously, each different type of material had to be sorted and separated prior to recycling. The other major change is that recycling pickup will now occur every other week instead of weekly. Half of the bins will have a green lid and half will have a blue lid. The color of the lid will determine which week recycling pickup will occur. Although all the bins are being delivered this month, it is important to remember the new service does not begin until January 1st. Please visit www.LowellRecycle.org for more information.
