US tourists led arrivals to Angkor Wat in the first three months of 2026, but overall international ticket sales and revenue fell sharply amid a broader tourism slowdown.
Cambodia recorded 38,407 US visitors to Angkor Wat in the first quarter of 2026, making the US the largest source of international tourists to the UNESCO-listed heritage site, as ticket revenue from international visitors continues to decline.
According to a report by Angkor Enterprise, from January to March 2026, the UK followed the US with 31,358 visitors. A total of 30,322 French tourists visited during the same period, 13,870 Japanese, 18,334 German and 13,282 Australian visitors, among other nationalities.
A total of 270,911 tickets were sold to foreign visitors, a 32.02 percent decline compared to the same period last year. This generated around $13.1 million, marking a 30 percent decrease.
Ticket sales for Koh Ker temple, Beng Mealea temple, Kbal Spean mountain and boat trips in the first three months of 2026 generated $448,236.
Angkor’s ticket revenue from international tourists has seen a decrease since June 2025, following the border conflict between Cambodia and Thailand.
In January, Siem Reap entered the top one percent of global travel destinations, ranking 11th in the world and fourth in Asia in the prestigious 2026 TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards.
In 2025, Cambodia welcomed more than 5.5 million international tourists, a 16.9 percent drop from 6.7 million visitors in 2024, according to a report from the Ministry of Tourism.
